Alexander Calder, Smithsonian Institution

The treatment of this monumental sculpture relocated it back to the artist intended location at the west side of the National Museum of American Art which included display within a shallow pool. This treatment was a large scale operation that included deinstallation, abatement for lead primer layers, structural work, and repainting using an adapted military, high performance coating that was developed in conjunction with the Calder Foundation, National Gallery of Art, and US Army Research Laboratory.
